‘Flicks in the Sticks’

‘Flicks in the Sticks’ is the third Friday of the month from September through to April.  The  doors open from 7.00pm so, why not arrive early and have a drink from the licensed bar and a chat with other film goers?  The feature film will start at 7.45pm with an interval about half way through.  Drinks and light snacks will be available during the interval.

‘The Book Thief’

Based on a best-selling book comes the story of a girl who transforms the lives of those around her during World War II.  When her mother can no longer care for her, Liesel is adopted by a German couple.  Although she arrives illiterate, Liesel is encouraged to learn to read by her adoptive father.  When the couple then take in Max, a Jew hiding from Hitler’s army, Liesel befriends him.  Ultimately, words and imagination provide the friends with an escape from the events unfolding around them in this extraordinary, acclaimed film directed by Brian Percival.
